Description: The sterling silver Compassion pendant is 1.25 x .85" in size. Each beautiful 16" - 17" necklace is designed and handmade by Janet Hathcock. Balls or facet-shaped onyx (which varies slightly from the picture) and beautiful creamy 6mm freshwater pearls come together with sterling spacers and lobster claw clasp. Onyx is an excellent stone for initiating the modes of centering and alignment of the total person with the higher powers. It can be used to banish grief, to enhance self-control, to stimulate the power of wise decision-making, and to encourage happiness and good fortune. The beads are Black Agate with Moonstone rondelles and sterling. "I designed the Compassion Pendant around the time I was studying Japanese Tea Ceremony. The simplicity of the Japanese circle 'enso' inspired me to make a very simple piece that embodied compassion. 'Compassion' is representational of arms folding around something dear like a person, baby or self. The tea bowl, the enso and my tea circle inspired also the Dhyna Mudra. This piece started out as two hands holding a tea bowl in front of oneself as if to give thanks for a moment before drinking.
